## 1. What Is Kiki?

Kiki is an all-in-one Discord bot with two core pillars:

1. **Translation Engine** — Automatically translates messages, reactions, announcements, and voice output across 120+ languages (Albanian, Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, English, French, Frisian, German, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Ukrainian, and dozens more).
2. **AI Server Assistant** — Lets administrators manage their Discord server using plain natural language instead of memorising slash commands.

Kiki handles:

## 2. Subscription Model & Collaborative Economy

### How Tokens Work

Kiki uses a **token-based monthly subscription** priced at **$1 USD per token per month**. Tokens are not permanent — unused tokens expire at the end of each billing month and do not roll over.

Each user purchases the number of tokens they want (minimum 1, maximum 99). A user's token count determines both what server features their server receives and what personal perks they enjoy.

### Tier System

Server features unlock based on the **total pooled tokens** contributed to that server. The four tiers are:

### Token Pooling — `/share_tokens` (Collaborative Economy)

Kiki's most unique feature is **collaborative token pooling**. Any server member who subscribes can contribute any portion of their tokens to the server's pool using `/share_tokens`. The server's tier is determined by the _total_ pooled tokens, not by any single user.

**Example scenarios:**
- 1 user contributes 9 tokens → Feline Finest tier for the whole server
- 3 users each contribute 3 tokens → 3 tokens total → Feline Finest tier
- 9 users each contribute 1 token → 9 tokens total → Feline Finest tier
- 12 users each contribute 1 token → 12 tokens total → well into Feline Finest tier

This model distributes cost across the community and removes the requirement for a single server owner to pay for all premium features.

### Free Daily Words — `/share_free_words`

Every user — whether subscribed or not — can **claim 300 free translation words per day** from the Kiki website. Words are claimed individually and can be shared with a server using the `/share_free_words` command. Free words stack across members.

**Stacking math:** A server with 30 active members each claiming and sharing their daily 300 words = **9,000 free translation words per day** available to that server.

Daily word claims reset at **midnight UTC (00:00)**.

### Free Server Trial

New servers receive a **7-day free trial** of Kiki's premium features. The trial resets every **January** and **June**, giving servers a second chance to explore premium functionality.

### AI Image Generation — Bonus Images + Purchasable Packs

Every paid subscription includes **bonus AI image generations** each billing month, scaled to the subscriber's personal token count. Bonus images are tied to the individual user's subscription (not the server pool):

**Editing existing images:**
- **Reply-to-edit:** reply to any message containing an image and invoke `/generate` with a description of the change. Kiki uses the original image as the reference and produces an edited variant.
- **Plain-language editing via AI Chat (Feline Finest tier — 9 pooled server tokens):** users can chat naturally with Kiki to compose, edit, or iterate on images — specifying **aspect ratio**, **number of variants**, **style**, or **composition** in plain English. **Content policy:**
- The `/generate` command itself applies **no content filter** — NSFW prompts are allowed.

### How Locale Detection Works

1. **First visit** — Cloudflare's `cf-ipcountry` header is read to map the visitor's country to a locale (e.g., Spain → `es`, Japan → `ja`). Browser `Accept-Language` header is the fallback.
2. **Cookie persistence** — After detection, the locale is stored in a 1-year `kiki_lang` cookie.
3. **Manual override** — A globe icon in the header (and footer) opens a dropdown of all 16 native names. Selecting one updates the cookie and navigates to the equivalent URL in that locale.

### Pages NOT Localized

- **Legal pages** (`/privacy-policy`, `/terms-of-service`, `/refund-policy`, `/shipping-policy`) — kept English-only with a banner noting that the English text is the legally binding version. This avoids jurisdictional ambiguity from auto-translated legal text.
